Draft. This is a generic starting policy. Please have a solicitor review it before relying on it for compliance with UK GDPR, GDPR or other jurisdictions.

Who we are

Called Abroad ("we", "us") runs the job board at calledabroad.com. For data protection purposes we are the data controller for personal information collected through this site.

What we collect

  • Account information — your name and email address when you create an account.
  • Saved jobs and alert preferences — which jobs you've saved and any alert settings you configure.
  • Email signups — your email address (and newsletter preference) when you sign up for vacancy alerts from the footer.
  • Vacancy submissions — the organisation, contact, and role details you provide if you submit a vacancy.
  • Basic technical data — your IP address and browser information from server logs, used to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it

  • To operate your account and show you the jobs you've saved.
  • To send you the vacancy alerts and newsletters you've opted into.
  • To review and publish vacancy submissions.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.

Our legal bases are: contract (operating your account), consent (email alerts and newsletters), and legitimate interest (keeping the service running securely and reviewing public vacancy submissions).

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site. They process data on our behalf:

  • Hosting and database — provided by Lovable Cloud (which uses Supabase infrastructure).
  • Email delivery — used to send vacancy alerts, newsletters, and account emails.

We never sell your information. We don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We do not currently use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active. Email alert subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Vacancy submissions are kept as part of our published job archive.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • See what information we hold about you.
  • Correct it if it's wrong.
  • Delete your account at any time from Account Settings.
  • Unsubscribe from emails using the link at the bottom of any email we send.
  • Complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO at ico.org.uk).
